Why Church? This is a perfectly honest question to ask these days, and Sunday morning feels a lot better in a soft, comfortable bed. From what we see on TV or read in the newspaper, churches are often like ‘The Church Lady’ from SNL – people who are all about the rules or they are just plain weird, boring and disengaged from real life.

Now this is the part where we are supposed to say that we at Lookout are not weird and boring and are basically perfect. When in reality we are still broken people, stressed out by our jobs or lack of, bewildered in how to raise our kids, or emotionally spent in our troubled marriages. Although, we try not to wear polyester or have big hair. On a serious note, we do have hope and we believe in the transforming presence of Christ in us. It does not make us perfect but as Oswald Chambers says, “We are not meant to be seen as God’s perfect, bright-shining examples, but to be seen as the everyday ordinary life exhibiting the miracle of His grace.”

So at Lookout we strive to be like abundant living water running off of the mountain to a very thirsty region, a region living out of broken wells. This water comes from God alone and we are merely the rocky, cracked riverbeds that allow it to flow and give true life.

Our Core Objectives:

  • To invite all people to come as they are into the presence of God; boldly, enthusiastically welcomed and honored as image bearers of God.
  • To be filled to all the fullness of God. That as broken and empty vessels we need the fullness of God in us.
  • Then to be loving others.
