As an act of loving gratitude for our Lord’s love (“We love because He first loved us.”), as an act of obedience to our Lord’s great commission, and as an act of compassion for those who live without a knowledge of the good news, Lookout Mountain Community Church strives to be diligent in allocating its resources to the cause of advancing Christ’s kingdom throughout our world.

Missions Statement

We understand many may give on an individual basis to mission organizations. However, we do feel we are called to give corporately as a matter of corporate responsibility, and love and as a means of discipling and nurturing this particular body. We seek to offer financial support to missions in accordance with the following criteria:

Missions that intentionally and verbally honor Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. This is not to say that other compassionate and relief-oriented causes are not good, but that a saving and transforming knowledge of Christ Jesus in the paramount need in the human condition. Acts of compassion should not merely be tools of evangelism, but evangelism must be the supreme act of compassion.

Missions that personally involve people from LMCC. Jesus said, “It is more blessed to give than receive” (Acts 20:35). In our mission program we want your money, but more importantly we want you. And we want you to experience the “blessedness” of giving, every bit as much as we want others to know the blessedness of receiving.

Missions that are mentally and emotionally accessible to the entire church. In other words, we will seek to corporately support relatively few mission endeavors, but support them very well. We seek to make our support focused and deep rather than broad and shallow. We hope that “missions” in our church means faces and names and programs that are dependent on our support.

Missions that fit with our desire to be Christ’s witnesses on the mountain, in the city, and around the world. “Mountain, City, and World” reflects Christ’s departing words in the book of Acts. At the ascension He said to His disciples: “You shall be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria and to the ends of the earth” (Acts 1:8). Our Jerusalem in the local mountain community. Our Judea and Samaria is Denver and Colorado. And our ends of the earth is the ends of the earth.
MISSION PARTNERS and AFFILIATES
At the heart of our missions statement is the idea of being involved deeply with a few ministries. It is this Few, but deep mandate that drives the partner relationship and the effort to focus our involvement. However, in order to accommodate the growing number of ministries represented by our body, it is important to provide a way to encourage individual involvement beyond our partners. To this end we have created the affiliate relationship. The defining characteristic of our commitment to an affiliate is More, but minimal—more individuals, but minimal involvement.
Following are partner and affiliate ministries you can help:

OUTREACH Top
As God has grown our church, He has also been growing our vision of what is possible. We are dreaming of ways to make a difference in our culture.

Contagious Christian course. Sharing your faith in a world that is indifferent or opposed to the Gospel can be a little intimidating. This team-led class will help you examine your faith and articulate it in a world of illusions. Facilitated by Duncan Sprague, Director of Missions and Outreach.

Party on the Side of the Road. As an act of repentance from self-centeredness, we discipline ourselves to party with anyone who will respond to our invitation.

LMCC Fine Arts Ministry (FAM). The vision of the Fine Arts Ministry (FAM) at lookout Mountain Community Church (LMCC) is to display many hints of the larger story and glimpses of the unfathomable image of God. FAM seeks as its purpose to glorify God and lead others into worship of our Lord through the medium of the visual arts.

Pizza in the Plaza. Pizza in the plaza is a great opportunity to introduce people, in a non-threatening environment, to our church. Invite your unchurched friends for a casual evening of music and pizza. Concerts are offered on a semi-regular basis after the Saturday evening service during the summer months. Come join us in the plaza area.

Summer Film Festival. How do you watch a movie? During the summer months we use the Banquet Hall to enjoy films. The goal is to learn and grow, to have eyes to see and ears to hear the stories being told all around us. After corporately watching a movie, we provide group discussions on major movie themes, plot and character development, as well as reminders of God. Free popcorn and drinks—this is an opportunity to invite friends to join the party! If you would like to help in any way please call Ellen Haroutunian at 303-972-0157.
